Nila has been bellydancing continuously since 1997, after a childhood of ballet, jazz & tap.
As a professional dancer, she continues to take 'Master' workshops, not only within bellydance, but also in Flamenco and East Indian dance. She also reads voraciously and has amassed a treasured library of MED books, DVD's and other learning materials.
Nila has dedicated her life to bellydance, and so keeps up to date with the latest trends and learns as much as she can about MED history; women's issues as related to dance, health (anatomy, posture, etc.) and happiness.

Nila is happy to announce that she has been chosen to become co-editor of M.E.D.A's newsletter - Sahda. She will bring her expertise in the dance, experience as a graphic artist and general knowledge of pop culture and the current status of belly dance to an already well-accepted publication.

Nila is a licensed esthetician, a certified body worker and a strict believer in proper teaching techniques.

Some of Nila's proudest moments in bellydancing so far include:

  • A prime slot at Victoria's ICA Folkfest 2001 & 2002
  • Invitations to perform & teach on Saltspring Island, Victoria, Parksville, Trail.
  • Special Performances at: healing centres, rec centres, volunteer blitzes, the University of Victoria, bars & restaurants and the BC Women's Show.
  • Bellydance Fitness within Traditional Movement Instructional Video sees Nila enjoying a guest spot.
  • Troupe Director - not only did Victoria fall in love with Nila's splendiforous choreographies and beautiful girls, when she moved to North Vancouver she knew she had to restart a troupe. Pic's & Video will be available by spring of 2004!
